Training Expanded To Include Environmental Noise Monitoring Course

Noise Monitoring specialists Cirrus Research have expanded their product training and CPD programmes, adding an environmental noise measurement workshop to the roster.

The new environmental Noise Monitoring course will be unveiled at the Williams Conference Centre, Oxfordshire, on October 19. Environmental noise covers a wide range of topics from Noise Nuisance to Transportation Noise.

This one-day event gives an overview of Environmental Noise Monitoring and covers the basics of sound, the instrumentation available, measurement principles, specific measurement and analysis techniques, noise propagation principles and noise reduction techniques. It is ideal for existing and new practitioners but also acts as a refresher for those who have been out of the sector for some time.

All Cirrus courses offer a triple whammy of benefits: an ideal opportunity to bring customers up to speed on the Cirrus products and their applications, gain valuable CPD points and enjoy a great networking event at the same time.

Additional dates have also been put in the diary for the popular Cirrus Product Training buy phentermine online profile Courses (CPTC) with extra days confirmed right into 2018 at York Racecourse, the Imperial War Museum Duxford, and the Williams Conference Centre.

The CPTC course offers a solid foundation of noise knowledge before switching to a practical session, which demonstrates the Optimus® Sound Level Meters and doseBadge® Noise Dosimeters. The day then moves into the
NoiseTools software applications and usage, working on downloads, analysis and data sharing.

Places on the CPTC course are currently available at:
· 14 November 2017 – Rockingham Motorspeedway
· 06 December 2017 – York Racecourse
· 24 January 2018 – Oulton Park Circuit

hearing protection

Select hearing protection now available thanks to latest Cirrus’ doseBadge5 update

The industry-leading doseBadge5 noise dosimeter is now available with octave bands filters allowing for effective and accurate selection that enhances employee hearing protection.

This new function runs alongside the doseBadge5′s ongoing assessment of noise exposure but allows for more detailed analysis of noise sources with the additional data  helping H&S managers select hearing protection or review noise control measures.

This new feature is just the latest in a number of key upgrades to the doseBadge5 which was launched in 2016. Additional features include: wireless Bluetooth® connectivity, scheduled measurement timers, tamper detection as well as extensive data logging and analysis.

James Tingay, Cirrus Research Marketing Manager, said: “Having insight into the frequency content of measured noise levels can be critical when there’s a need to select appropriate PPE.

“Not only does this new feature provide details of the overall Leq in each octave band, it also stores a detailed time history or noise profile of each band throughout the measurement. It is perfect all-round phentermine online united states noise dosimeter that can meet the needs of even the most demanding of Noise at Work scenarios.”

Technically, the doseBadge5 allows PPE to be assessed against specific sections of a measurement, allowing for more effective selection of PPE, for example, when there may only be a need to wear hearing protection for certain tasks. Selecting PPE based on a whole measurement may end up over-protecting a worker, making their job harder and incurring unnecessary costs.

“Overall, the doseBadge5 provides an extensive range of occupational noise parameters and is the ideal tool for noise exposure assessments against the Noise at Work Regulations – this new capability extends the already comprehensive feature list,” added James.

A new version of the NoiseTools software will also be released alongside the new version of the doseBadge5 to support the new features.
The updated version of the doseBadge5 will be on display at Health & Safety North (10-11 October 2017) and at A+A in Germany (17-20 October 2017).
