Informa Markets is delighted to announce further growth for the 2019 edition of IFSEC International, FIREX International, Safety & Health Expo and Facilities Show

Taking place on 18-20 June 2019 at ExCeL London, the shows demonstrated notable visitor growth, representing 39,188 unique visitors – including thousands of international visitors from 128 countries – boasting an overall combined budget of £45.7 billion.

Safety & Health Expo saw steady visitor growth driven by an impressive selection of highlights, including a 75-hour CPD-accredited educational seminar programme, the brand-new Workplace Wellbeing Show and the new PPE Attack Zone. The 2019 inspirational speakers were a particular attraction with Steph McGovern, Eddie the Eagle and Jonny Wilkinson drawing huge crowds.

This programme helped Safety & Health Expo secure a 3% increase in visitors and an annual purchasing budget of £7.2 billion ensuring Safety & Health Expo remains by far the largest event of its kind in the UK. Visitors came from 74 countries, with strong growth in heads of department andC-suite professionals, highlighting the show’s prestige and considerable global reach.

Event Director Chris Edwards commented, “The substantial increase in footfall we saw this year and the high-quality of visitors Safety & Health Expo attracts, really demonstrates how significant the event remains for the health and safety profession. We’re proud of the way it has continued to grow in scope and scale, remaining at the forefront of the industry as it evolves.”

The year ahead

These strong numbers represented the four events’ continued centrality to their respective industries. Showcasing the most innovative products, providing education and helping connect thousands of professionals with hundreds of leading exhibitors, each has proved itself an essential part of the industry calendar, reflected in the visitor growth and their continued innovation.

Next year, IFSEC International, FIREX International, Safety & Health Expo and Facilities Show will take place on 19-21 May 2020. The date change, announced earlier this year, has been made so that all four events will better reflect the industry calendar and give exhibitors and visitors a longer period of time in which to continue their conversations before the summer period – don’t forget to add it to your diaries.

UBM EMEA is proud to announce yet another successful Safety & Health Expo

The annual show, now in its fifth year in London, welcomed safety and health professionals from around the world to ExCeL London for 3 days of networking, seminars and legislation updates.

Safety & Health Expo attracted over 14,000 visitors representing a 4% increase on the 2017 event and boasted over 300 exhibitors from 20 countries. 54% percent of visitors held an annual purchasing budget of over £100k. As a result, the show connected specialist suppliers to key decision makers who were ready to procure cost-effective solutions and take advantage of on-site discounts.

The online Meetings Service played a key role in this, with over 800 meetings between exhibitors and visitors being prearranged before the event began, proving the exhibition’s success as a platform for networking.

Chris Edwards, Brand Director of Safety & Health Expo explained, “Safety & Health Expo 2018 has been a huge success. After speaking with visitors and exhibitors, it’s a comfort to know this sentiment is shared. This year’s show reflected the profession’s crucial shift towards health and wellbeing and it has been a privilege to bring together stakeholders such as NEBOSH, HSE, IOSH and RoSPA, who are driving these changes too.”

One of the most successful seminars was the SHP debate, “Do we really need to be talking about mental health so much?” Heather Beach, Managing Director of The Healthy Work Company, introduced the session by announcing that the health & safety industry has for too long leant solely on the safety element of its title, and is only now waking up to the vital role that worker health and wellbeing plays in creating a safe and happy workforce.

The Inspirational Speaker Series was an unforgettable highlight. The show welcomed a fantastic line-up of world class speakers, including comedian and mental health expert Ruby Wax OBE, English rugby legend Sir Clive Woodward OBE and Nicky Moffat CBE, formerly the British Army’s highest-ranking female officer.

The second day called for celebration as Jyssica Murphy, Health & Safety Advisor at Torus, was named as SHP’s Rising Star UK Award. The award sought to recognise the role that young people are playing in health & safety and acknowledge the new generation of health & safety professionals.

Throughout all the three days, The Professional Clothing Fashion Show was a magnet for all visitors. The catwalk welcomed powerful dance routines which elevated the most innovative, stylish and striking workwear and PPE solutions. Crowds watched with excitement as solutions from 3M, Port West and Tranemo came to life on stage under bright lights.

The show was also proud to welcome London Air Ambulance, which was initially funded by UBM during its start-up phase and its first three years. To come full circle in such a way is a testament to Safety & Health Expo’s growth and imprint on the profession. A spokesperson for London Air Ambulance commented, “Many thanks for the wonderful opportunity of being charity partner for Safety and Health Expo. It was amazing for our Chief Pilot and Deputy CEO to talk about the challenges of operating in London and for so many visitors to play the giant operation game. Corporate partnerships are the lifeblood of our charity.”

As always, visitors to Safety & Health Expo had unlimited access to the 5 co-located shows which form the Protection & Management Series. Safety and health professionals were able to enhance their specialisms across fire, security, facilities management, field service management and PPE.

Jeremy Rees, Acting CEO, ExCeL London commented, “We were delighted to welcome Safety and Health Expo to ExCeL London. Our teams are working closely with UBM to support their ambitions for growth and we are delighted that they had another successful event with us.

This event, together with the wider Protection & Management Series, is playing a vital role in maintaining and creating safe and secure environments, something that resonates strongly with us. We look forward to welcoming visitors and exhibitors again next year, when they will be able to travel to ExCeL more quickly than ever before via the Elizabeth line.”

As well as the doseBadge5, the Cirrus team will also be demonstrating Optimus sound level meter range as well as the Revo vibration meter for hand-arm and whole body measuring that only came to market in 2015.

Lone Worker Safety Again Key Focus Of Annual Conference

The highly regarded LONE WORKER SAFETY 2017 Expo is taking place on Tuesday 28th March 2017. It is the only event specifically staged for lone workers and has been growing in popularity since its launch over six years ago.
This annual event features several passionate conference speakers who are widely respected true experts in their chosen fields.
All exhibitors, which include firms specialising in lone worker security technology and devices, as well as personal protection training and other types of risk management, will equally ensure this event becomes a source of extremely valuable and relevant information.

Over the recent years the LONE WORKER SAFETY Expo has also become a very useful and highly respected platform for professionals to exchange information, recommendations and codes of practice in reference to all aspects of lone worker protection.
Why is the issue of lone worker protection of such great importance?
Robert Kaiser, Organiser and Chair of this annual event states: “According to several studies and research projects a high percentage of workers are concerned about facing verbal aggression, hostility or physical conflict.”
“Everyone responsible for lone worker protection must understand all legal responsibilities to their workforce, as well as all legal, financial and moral consequences if this matter has not been phentermine 37.5 mg used given full attention.”
“The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 and other laws do not make it illegal for employees to work alone, but they do place a responsibility on the employer to ensure that it is safe for them to do so.”
Employers are responsible not just for their own employees but also for others who are affected by their work activities such as self-employed individuals and contractors.
However, Robert Kaiser is also keen to point out that those who work alone also have a responsibility to take reasonable care of themselves and others affected by their working activities. This includes co-operating with employers to ensure that their legal responsibilities are met.
“The knowledge provided by all speakers and the carefully selected products highlighted by all exhibitors can make a real difference in the life of a lone worker. It can make the difference of coming home safely after a hard day at work or not coming home at all.”
