hearing protection

Select hearing protection now available thanks to latest Cirrus’ doseBadge5 update

The industry-leading doseBadge5 noise dosimeter is now available with octave bands filters allowing for effective and accurate selection that enhances employee hearing protection.

This new function runs alongside the doseBadge5′s ongoing assessment of noise exposure but allows for more detailed analysis of noise sources with the additional data  helping H&S managers select hearing protection or review noise control measures.

This new feature is just the latest in a number of key upgrades to the doseBadge5 which was launched in 2016. Additional features include: wireless Bluetooth® connectivity, scheduled measurement timers, tamper detection as well as extensive data logging and analysis.

James Tingay, Cirrus Research Marketing Manager, said: “Having insight into the frequency content of measured noise levels can be critical when there’s a need to select appropriate PPE.

“Not only does this new feature provide details of the overall Leq in each octave band, it also stores a detailed time history or noise profile of each band throughout the measurement. It is perfect all-round phentermine online united states noise dosimeter that can meet the needs of even the most demanding of Noise at Work scenarios.”

Technically, the doseBadge5 allows PPE to be assessed against specific sections of a measurement, allowing for more effective selection of PPE, for example, when there may only be a need to wear hearing protection for certain tasks. Selecting PPE based on a whole measurement may end up over-protecting a worker, making their job harder and incurring unnecessary costs.

“Overall, the doseBadge5 provides an extensive range of occupational noise parameters and is the ideal tool for noise exposure assessments against the Noise at Work Regulations – this new capability extends the already comprehensive feature list,” added James.

A new version of the NoiseTools software will also be released alongside the new version of the doseBadge5 to support the new features.
The updated version of the doseBadge5 will be on display at Health & Safety North (10-11 October 2017) and at A+A in Germany (17-20 October 2017).

Cirrus Research has secured the biggest order in its 46-year history, supplying noise monitoring equipment to an Indian police force.

The Yorkshire-based noise monitoring specialists, which manufactures and supplies a range of personal and environmental noise monitoring devices, clinched two contracts almost simultaneously after a tough international tender process.

The team is supplying the Maharashtra Police force in India with 627 of its Optimus Red sound level meters, all due to be shipped out before Christmas.

Maharashtra Police is the law enforcement agency responsible for the Indian state and is headquartered in Mumbai. It is one of the largest police forces in the country with over 190,000 officers, made up of around 35 district police units. Maharashtra is in the western region of India, the third-largest state with the world’s second-most populated regions. It has over 112 million inhabitants with Mumbai alone home to 18 million residents.

The Optimus Red kits will be used for a variety of functions, including the monitoring of noise pollution on the region’s cityscapes, congested roads, as well as at festivals and street celebrations. The Optimus Red was selected as it is perfectly suited to the multitude of tasks ahead.

app for dosebadge

Cirrus Research launch new App for doseBadge 5

Noise monitoring specialists Cirrus Research has launched a new wireless App to enhance the features of its latest personal dosimeter, the doseBadge5.  Already boasting a host of new advances, the doseBadge5 has now enhanced wireless technology to allow the instrument to communicate remotely with the doseBadge5 Wand and the dBLink App.

The doseBadge5 Wand allows instruments to be started and stopped without disturbing the wearer and view measurement information via a mobile phone or IOS or Android controlled device.

If the doseBadge5 is running, the current measurement information can be display, allowing mid-shift readings to be obtained. If stopped, the doseBadge5, any stored measurements can still be reviewed.

The dBLink App for Android allows the doseBadge5 units to be configured, measurement information viewed and measurements started and stopped.

Full configuration of the instruments can also be carried out through the App including the set-up of integrators and measurement timers.

This latest App adds to a range of new capabilities for the market leading device which was developed by the in-house R&D team and launched earlier this year. It has a wide range of new USPs including data-logging facilities that can be specified down to the second, rather than the previous one-minute window.

The doseBadge5 also has intelligent charging with the device controlling its own charger to combat overcharging so it can prolong battery life to more than 12 hours, and includes an anti-tamper and vibration phentermine no prescription diet pills device to cut down on anomalies.

To give users complete control over your noise assessments, the doseBadge5 allows measurements to be started and stopped automatically at pre-set times using the Scheduled Measurements function. The start time, duration and end time of a measurement can be set either in the NoiseTools software or in the dBLink App, giving you complete control over when measurement data is gathered.

If required, measurements can be paused to allow for lunch breaks or rest periods that should not be included in the overall measurement data. Up to three timed periods can be defined for each day and the timers enabled or disabled for specific days of the week. If the doseBadge5 is on the Dock being charged, timed measurement periods are ignored but as soon as badge is removed from the Dock, the timers are activated.

This allows the doseBadge5 to be deployed to remote sites or to locations where there is no access to a doseBadge5 Wand or the dBLink App.

Thomas Shelton, Cirrus Research Marketing Manager, said: “The latest app means the doseBadge5 is even more user friendly and taking the measurements no longer means disturbing the wearer. It gives more flexibility in terms of when and where the measurements are taken without compromising the accuracy of the readings.”
